Un-Attached Gingiva Around Implants

Postby Dr Hugh » Thu Jan 29, 2009 10:33 am

I am unable to resolve these situations. This usually is a problem in the posterior mandible. I remember Dr Chen mentioned placing donut shaped attached gingiva grafts around implants but do not recall the exact protocol? What is the protocol?
What happens if you just leave it with un-attached gingiva?
Best Regards

split-thickness the mucosa around the fixture 360*. In this case must leave periosteum so you can suture stabilize the graft donut

You need intact periosteum to graph attached gingiva. Makes sence. How do you split thickness un-attached gingiva flap? How do you stabalize the graph to the periosteum to complete atachment?

Best Regards

How do you suture to periosteum? I think this is a periodontist no brainer? GP here. Love to learn more!

Thanks

Google: periodontal textbooks online! I just bought 6 from Amazon.com.I have Misch and Garun. Six seminars for $870.00. I will study split thickness flaps. I will ask more studied questions. What are your favorite implant/perio management texts/atlases? This forum is the Chen/Cha atlas!

Life is Study and Study is an Art.

These texts make it look so tedious? With Chen Tech/periodontist tech it becomes simple and clear! Thanks!!!
