Thank You Letter from our Patient (March,2011)

Dear Dr.Leon Chen and Dr.Jennifer Cha,

I would just like to say how fortunate I feel to have found Dr.Chen, Dr. Cha and their team at the Dental Implant Institute.

Due to some extraordinary complications I recently needed to have some very difficult dental work. Not only did I need bone grafting and implants but also a sinus lift.

Six months ago I had the first stage of work done ( before I knew of Dr.Chen's work) but was quite nervous about the upcoming sinus lift. I felt the procedure was too invasive and I began looking for a less invasive procedure. That is when I began to do my research and came across the Dental Implant Institute.

I found that Dr. Chen had pioneered a new technique called the the Hydraulic Condensing Sinus Lift. This procedure is less invasive, minimal down time and I was told they could perform my sinus lift, bone grafting, and implant all in one visit.

Was this too good to be true? No waiting four to six months between procedures, which could mean Fifteen or more months before completion.

When I learned of this I immediately called the institute and was put in the capable hands of Nathan, one of their extraordinary staff members. He was very knowledgeable and took a great deal of time with me answering all my questions explaining everything. A few days later I flew to Las Vegas to have a consultation with Dr Chen and found out my answer.

Not only was I a candidate for the Hydraulic lift but after my consultation he preformed all the procedures that day and I flew home that evening. No pain during the procedure, no bruising after and almost no swelling.

I only wish I had known about Dr. Chen six months ago because I could have avoided an extra surgery.

On the positive side I avoided a very invasive old style sinus lift for a cutting edge procedure. Now I feel I am in the best hands possible to complete the work I need.

Soon I hope to have my beautiful smile restored.

Thank You Letter from our Patient (August,2010)

Dear Dr.Leon Chen and Dr.Jennifer Cha,

I can still clearly remember 2 years ago, when my doctor told me that I needed teeth to eat right for my stomach condition. It was 2 years ago, that my general dentist told me that I need implants, and that he would have to refer me to an oral surgeon.

When I visited the oral surgeon, he told me that I need to bone graft for both sinus cavity via a procedure called lateral window, and that I had to wait 1 year for implant surgery, and another 6 months to get crowns.

Despite my financial hardship, I listened. I paid for left and right sinus surgery, and waited. About a year later, I was told that I needed another sinus lift surgery, and that I can only get teeth on my right side, because left side did not become bone.

After another 4 hour surgery and months after, I found out that my general dentist could not make the crown, and I had to be referred to a prosthodonist.

While he was preparing my temporary crown, implant fell out, and I was told that he cannot make me a final crown because there were not enough implants supporting my sinus. To make matters worse, he has told me that I still did not have enough bone on my left side for implants.

After 2 years, 3 surgeries, and money I could not afford, I was left with nothing but despair. I wanted to eat. I wanted to be pain free of my stomach condition. And I wanted to be able to smile like I used to.

That’s when I met Dr.Leon Chen and Dr.Jennifer Cha.

You two promised teeth in one day, and you guys delivered your promises. Despite being the most extensive procedure I have ever had, it was by far the shortest and least painful suregery I have ever had! Most of all, I do not have the swelling and pain after the surgery like I did past three times!

After the first day, I didn’t even take Motrin, and taking Tylenol once a day was sufficient.

I truly thank God that I met you two, and what you have given me cannot be gratified in words.

Dental Implant Failure

Here's one patient's account of the dental implant procedure, from the patient's point of view.

I live in Las Vegas and a year ago my general dentist recommended that I have an implant. I was quoted what I thought was a fair price for the work. They placed an implant then a denture will go on top of it 6 months later. From the moment that the implant was in my mouth I started having headaches. Not just occasional headaches but constant ones and sinus problems as well. I had a terrible time sleeping as well. My dentist sent me to an oral surgeon and he said nothing was wrong. I got the feeling that they were all covering each others backs. I was then referred to a Psychiatrist for my craziness and a Neurologist for a brain scan because they thought that I was crazy. I was given a clean bill of health from the Psychiatrist and the Neurologist. Everyone said the implant was fine but I was in so much pain all of the time. Why???

Finally one night, after 3 weeks of sleepless nights, I started to feel hopeless and that the rest of my live would be like this. You can't imagine how this feels when your life has changed so dramatically and to lose your hope for a good life. I was at the end of my ropes and was ready to shoot myself in the head my husband took me to the emergency room. The ER doctor told me to see Dr. Chen, which I had never heard of before. He had implants from Dr. Chen and he just loved the results and thinks he is amazing. I called my general dentist the next day and he said not to have anything to do with Dr. Chen that he was bad and too expensive.

My husband convinced me to give him a try…..well I saw Dr. Chen the next day (he got me in right away even though I was a new patient) and within 10 minutes fixed the problem and my pain. Every other dentist/doctor thought I was nuts or just trouble, but Dr. Chen recognized the problem immediately and knew it wasn't just in my head. Even I can tell that if a doctor knows what he is doing it takes only a few minutes to diagnose the problem. If the doctor doesn't know what he is doing he can be the nicest person in the world and you will still get pushed around from place to place and still not fix the problem. My husband, while very happy that my pain was gone, was furious with my general dentist that caused the problem in the beginning. He was ready to sue him when Dr. Chen convinced him not to pursue it. If Dr. Chen is a bad and horrible as I have read and been told then why did he convince my husband not to sue?

If someone had told me initially the price Dr. Chen charges for a 10 minute procedure I would say they were robbed, but going through the cheaper guy and all of the agony and shuffling around I did and the fees for the other doctors, I see that Dr. Chen was worth every minute! I read the complaints about him and they are all money related. I don't hear the praise for the relief of pain and the improvement in the quality of life since he helped you! As far as I am concerned HE WALKS ON WATER!!!!

I have since had 4 other implants done by Dr. Chen. Believe me, we are not a wealthy couple and Dr. Chen is far from the cheapest in town, but what is your well being really worth? I was ready to crawl into a hole and die until he helped me. As far as I am concerned it was money very well spent and I would have spent twice as much for what he did for me. I would never go to any other dentist EVER!!! My advice to you is to go to the best and you will see that in the long run he may even be less expensive than the 'cheap' guys in town. I am sorry to say that we are moving out of Vegas to be closer to our daughter. If Vegas people don't appreciate such a fine dentist maybe I can convince him to move with me so I don't have to fly back here to see him every year.

It is very difficult in today's environment to find such skilled, polite, and honest people working together such as your team. Each of you impacted my stay in several ways.
